Episode 38: What are you thankful for?

As Thanksgiving rolls around, there’s something comforting about the traditions that bring us together. This week on The Flower Files, we dive into our holiday favorites, quirky family customs, and what we’re thankful for after a whirlwind year. Join us for a warm conversation that’s as cozy as a slice of pumpkin pie and just as sweet.

A Love for Cranberry Sauce and Paninis

Thanksgiving is all about the food, and we’re not holding back on sharing our favorites. We have a love for cranberry sauce — not just any cranberry sauce, but the kind that comes straight from the can. Whether it’s jellied or whole berry, it’s a staple that brings back memories of past Thanksgivings.

Speaking of leftovers, another tradition that’s cherished is the Thanksgiving panini. Picture this: leftover turkey, cranberry sauce, stuffing, cheese, and a touch of warmth that makes everything just right. It’s a post-holiday favorite that feels like a celebration in itself.

Debates Over Turkey, Stuffing, and Sweet Potatoes

Thanksgiving wouldn’t be complete without some light-hearted debates over the menu. From smoked, baked, or fried turkey to whether dark meat is the best (hint: one of us is team dark meat all the way), there’s no shortage of opinions around the Thanksgiving table.

Stuffing also stirred up some strong feelings. One of us prefers a sweet cranberry and potato bread stuffing, while the other can’t stand anything too “herby.”

And then there are the sweet potatoes: marshmallows or no marshmallows? The consensus is clear—less is more. Sweet potatoes are already, well, sweet! Sometimes a little butter is all you need.

Thankful for Family, Teamwork, and a Little Bit of Chaos

Reflecting on the past year, 2024 has been filled with major life events, from weddings to buying a new home. What stands out most is the gratitude for family, friends, and our incredible team of women. Working together every day is something we don’t take for granted—even if it sometimes means stumbling into the office before a proper “good morning.”

We’re also thankful for the little things: our dogs, being able to work outdoors, and the joy that comes from being surrounded by nature rather than stuck in an office. It’s these small but significant moments that remind us how lucky we are.

The Beauty of Togetherness

Thanksgiving, unlike other holidays, is about togetherness without the pressure of gifts. It’s about coming together over a meal, enjoying good company, and making memories. For us, it’s a time to slow down, appreciate the people around us, and take in the flavors of the season.

Whether you’re team cranberry sauce, deep-fried turkey, or can’t get enough of the sides, we hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving filled with laughter, love, and of course, a little bit of indulgence. Eat your mashed potatoes, enjoy your turkey however it’s cooked, and take a moment to soak in the magic of the season.

Happy Thanksgiving from all of us at The Flower Files. May your holiday be filled with warmth, comfort, and, if you’re lucky, a perfectly grilled Thanksgiving panini.
