Flower Farmer Florist… Which are You?

So most of you know that at Wildly Native, we do things a little differently. We grow and harvest our own flowers, then turn them into arrangements for local delivery as well as full scale wedding setups!  Truly a Flower Farmer Florist.

Between all of us here, we cover the whole range from farmer to flower shop to wedding.  Sometimes we overlap with each other, or switch gears to lend a hand when one part of the farm is busier than others, but we each definitely have a place where we feel most comfortable!

When we started thinking about who we were writing our courses for, we realized that we’d need to have content specific to each of our job roles here on the farm!! They definitely work together, and often overlap, but for the most part our home-grown info will cater towards either the Flower Farmer, Florist Shop, or Wedding Professional.  So, which one are you?

To help figure that out, we even created a little quiz on our site!! Can you really narrow it all down with 7 questions?  Probably not, but it gives us a place to start.  You can take the quiz here, or read on for info about each result. There’s even an episode on our podcast all about it!

The Flower Farmer

Liza stands in a field with a baseball hat and sunglasses.

You’re up at the crack of dawn, ready to tackle the fields before the heat sets in!

Although you enjoy spending time with those you know and love, the peace and quiet of the flowers and bees is all the company you need most days.

Your go-with-the-flow attitude can only stretch so far however, since once you’ve planted a seed you just have to wait and see how it all grows out.  Planning ahead and following through is a strong suit of yours, and you reap those benefits each time a new rotation of flowers starts to show.

Bringing in those buckets of beautiful fresh cut blooms every day certainly brings a smile to your face, but you’re just as happy to hand them over and see what other people create with them!!

Florist Shop

With a cup of coffee (or tea!) in your hand, you’re ready to take on whatever comes your way as you flick on the cooler lights to check on your well-stocked florals, and open up your laptop to check in on the day’s orders.

Each phone call could bring a birthday, anniversary, funeral, or just because – and seeing the stories and love written on each card keeps things interesting.  You love it when people place their orders at least a few days in advance, but it’s those last-minute delivery requests that really keep you on your toes!!

By the end of the day, you’ll be happy to have brought a smile to people’s faces with your attention to detail and creativity.

Wedding Pro

Lizzy stands in front of the purple van with a bouquet of flowers.

Your sights are set high, with big Pinterest dreams and inspiration everywhere!  Creating a bond with your wedding couples is super important to you so that you can really get a feel for how they want their big day to look, but saving those connections for a select few at a time keeps you even-keeled.

Talking to too many people in a day drains your social battery quickly!  Taking the client’s color palette and theme, you bring your expertise and style to the board and guide their floral choices with them throughout their planning process.

When the day arrives, you’re ready for any challenges that the weather or guest list might throw at you, and can stay up into the night for floral flips and breakdowns!

We're Wildly Native.

Located on the beautiful Eastern Shore of Maryland, Wildly Native Flower Farm is a small (but ever growing!) family-owned flower farm and florist with a big vision, where it takes everyone working together to create success.

We connect with all of our products from literally the ground up, and love seeing every bloom that we grow find its way into someone’s home and heart!  So when you schedule a time to visit with us, we’ll walk our fields together and experience all of the scents, textures, colors, and more that a flower farm has to offer.  It is such a unique experience for brides, plant lovers, gardeners, nature enthusiasts, and all-around environmentally focused folks!
