Elegant Blue and Gold Wedding: Amber + Dylan

While their theme was gold and blue, it stood out against the fall colors and tones of the October foliage. Amber and Dylan’s wedding was one of only a few that we’ve allowed to have here on the farm. We loved seeing our workspace transform into an event space like never seen before!

The backdrop for their ceremony space was our field-grown eucalyptus, which by mid-October was over five feet tall! If you love a different color scheme for the fall, this elegant blue and gold theme is one you need to look at.

Their Story

Dylan and Amber are that proverbial couple that knew each other for years (middle school!) but finally “met” in High School through mutual friends and started dating.

Amber has always been a smart and quiet student. Dylan is the guy who knew everyone and was awesome at figuring out how to get things done.

They both have a passion for the water, are fiercely family-oriented, and “argue” about their dogs – they’ll each tell you that a different dog is the best!

Dylan works on the water and Amber’s day job is project management for a research facility.

I might happen to know the first time he kissed her he ran away… because he was so nervous!

We might be a little biased here at Wildly Native about her wedding florals! Although she is one of our crew leaders for our set-up teams.

Set-Up Story

Her aisle went between rows of flowers in bloom and was lined with in-ground flowers at each chair.

These were so much fun to do!

After watching a few tutorials online we used a mallet to pound water tubes into the ground, then filled them with water and fresh cuts to create a garden-like feel.

Pumpkins and mums adorned the bottom of our classic wooden arch and added to the fall vibe. While the floral pieces pulled in the elegant blue and gold color scheme.

Personal Pieces

Her cascading bouquet was paired with a beautiful hairpiece. Along with her elegant blue and gold theme tying everything together.

Dylan’s pocket square matched everything as well, and was one of the first we had ever made!

The Reception

Amber used Eastern Shore Tents and Events’ clear top tent to create an unforgettable look under the stars that made the entire night magical. Dylan created oversized wooden pieces to suspend from the ceiling that twisted and turned independently. Then gave the illusion of an almost “mobile” vibe.

The light breeze through the tent turned them perfectly! For the reception, she used wooden candle lanterns that they had also built themselves on the guest tables. Which we then added mini flower arrangements tucked on the outside edge of all the trios.

Amber’s wedding was a mix of a little country, a little fall, and a lot of elegance that made the whole evening relaxed, welcoming, and truly family-centered.

Amber’s wedding colors of blue and yellow with lots of texture really made the wooden accents she used pop!

A combination of florals to make her color scheme come to life!:

  • golden garden marigolds
  • specialty cactus zinnias
  • craspedia (also known as billy balls)
  • larkspur (some dried from the spring cuts for her)
  • eucalyptus, various greens
  • agapanthus

Garden Clean Up: What to Do?

As the growing season winds down, it’s time to tackle one of those tasks we both dread and love—the end-of-season garden cleanup. It’s a mix of emotions, isn’t it? There’s the satisfaction of wrapping up the season and getting the garden ready for a fresh start, but there’s also the frustration of braving the cold and staring down that one corner of the garden that got completely out of hand.
