Wedding in a Winter Wonderland: Festive Christmas Style

Once the rush of fall wedding season dies down, the weather turns a bit chillier, and people start turning their attention towards holiday celebrations and family gatherings… a favorite wedding trend of ours starts to take shape as well!

Bride and Groom carry their wedding flowers down an aisle created by their smiling wedding party.

We love that winter weddings with a touch of holiday wonder and cheer have become more and more popular lately! In turn, this has made venues with indoor spaces even more appealing in uncertain weather.  With lots of family members already traveling to gather during Christmas, it can be a good time to have your wedding and make sure everyone attends!

Rich reds, classic evergreens, pinecones, berries, and a pop of bright white really make a winter wedding stand out from the other seasons.

Christmas Wedding at Home

One of our very own flower girls here at Wildly Native chose to have an intimate elopement on her family farm in December, and you’d better believe we brought the Christmas wedding magic!

Bride and Groom stand on front porch of an old Eastern Shore farmhouse for their wedding ceremony, with Christmas Wedding greenery, garlands, and wreaths.

For Kenly + PJ’s wedding, we transformed their front porch into the perfect farmhouse wedding ceremony backdrop, with evergreen garlands wrapped around the posts, an oversized wreath, and miniature pine trees.

Her bouquet was full of reds, whites, and greenery!  PJ chose a pocket square style boutonniere rather than a more traditional pin-on, which really stood out.

You have to check out her wedding cake, created by local artist/baker Cakes by Abby.  How cute is that cable knit sweater icing??!!  We always love getting to hop in the photos, and loved attending the wedding as family and friends, instead of just vendors!!

Festive + Fun at the Wylder

Kathleen + Colin’s Christmas wedding was a perfect fit for the Wylder Hotel on Tilghman Island.  Their interior ballroom has plenty of space, and the columns were great for adding evergreen garland to!

Their ceremony took place at St. Michaels Mission Church, tucked amongst the historic brick buildings of the waterfront town just a short ride away from their reception venue.  We decorated each pew with a small wintry floral arrangement down the aisle!

At the Wylder Hotel, they got into the holiday spirit for their reception!  We strung pine garlands throughout, they had Christmas trees set up, and plaid blankets were supplied.

We set the guest tables with a mix of our glass cylinder trios with floating candles, set with winter greens and pinecones, and also scattered bud vases in seasonally festive colors.

Although winter weddings certainly have their fair share of planning challenges, we hope to be part of many more to come!!!

Garden Clean Up: What to Do?

As the growing season winds down, it’s time to tackle one of those tasks we both dread and love—the end-of-season garden cleanup. It’s a mix of emotions, isn’t it? There’s the satisfaction of wrapping up the season and getting the garden ready for a fresh start, but there’s also the frustration of braving the cold and staring down that one corner of the garden that got completely out of hand.
