Flowers and a stunning venue are important for a wedding (hello July blooms at Brittland Manor!), but we all know that the people are the most important part. Marcella & Justin’s pastel wedding was a day full of celebrating relationships – their own love story and the combining of their two huge families.
The Love Story
Marcella and Justin have a love story to rival romance films. They met in film school in LA and became friends before starting to date. They are both writers and producers supporting each other as they work for their film career goals. We loved learning their love story. Truly knowing a couple helps us make the wedding day vision come alive even better!
Designing a Perfect Pastel Wedding
We didn’t just get to know Marcella and Justin though – we also met Marcella’s mom when the bride and mother of the bride visited us on the farm. Not every bride or couple is able to come to the farm, but we love it when they do! We were able to show Marcella different floral options in person and let her pick out which rental pieces like vases, compotes, and candles she liked best. Often, couples who come in person will make additions or changes that they wouldn’t have thought to before. For Marcella, she decided to add a few more soft neutral peachy tones to her originally white and ivory color palette. We added pastels to the neutral tones to bring the wedding vision together. Coming to the farm lets you get to know our florals better and gives us a chance to learn more about you as individuals!
“I cannot stress enough how wonderful the Wildly Native team is. They were patient, collaborative, and made all my flower dreams come true! Liza, the owner took the time to really see my vision and get to know myself and my husband. From the very beginning she treated us like individuals, even when I went back and forth on everything! She helped guide me to make sure I was getting the best of the best. I never felt pressured or like she wanted to push product on me, everything felt handpicked just for my wedding.”
Family is Everything
When you have this many family members involved in your wedding day, it can be amazing to provide florals for everyone to really stand out! We created many personal flower arrangements not just for the couple and their bridal party, but the family members too. Boutonnieres were not only for the groomsmen, but for the fathers and ushers as well. In addition to Marcella’s petite bridal bouquet, we created coordinating petite bouquets for her bridesmaids, and also adorable flower crowns for the flower girls and elegant corsages for the mothers to wear walking down the aisle.
This wedding day was BIG! With two families coming together, one a big Irish family and the other a big Italian family, this wedding was going to be huge! With nearly 300 guests, we needed to prepare a lot of flowers for the large reception and ceremony spaces at Brittland Manor. We were able to attend an organized walkthrough at the venue with the other vendors to make sure everything would run smoothly on the wedding day, and that we could coordinate with each other!
“Nicole and Lizzy were my day of team and they could not have been more helpful and present. They were professional, creative, and made me feel like they wanted me to have the best day of my life (which I did!) To say they were my favorite vendor would be an understatement. I still have guests complimenting the arrangements, and it made me feel proud to say they all came from a local flower farm.”
Pastel Flowers Everywhere!
Wildly Native grew a TON of florals, and provided many a rental, since we had a lot of space to work with at Brittland Manor. The main iron gate at Brittland, where every guest will walk through on their way to the ceremony and reception, welcomed everyone in with a floral garland hung on each side.
For the ceremony, we set up our very own wooden arch for the end of the aisle and added floral touches in the neutral peachy tones Marcella picked out. Additionally, we decorated the seating area where guests would be with arrangements at the end of the aisle, and hanging floral decor on the chairs. It was a truly beautiful day at Brittland. White umbrellas were set up to cut down the summer heat, and we added touches of greenery to tie the umbrellas in with the rest of the design.
All the Flowers: Dried & Fresh
For after the “I Dos”, we had set up florals for both the cocktail hour area and the tented reception space. We used a variety of bud vases in both areas to tie the looks together, creating a whimsical but elegant feel. Marcella is also one of our brides who embraced using dried floral arrangements! She had us create a unique accent piece for her guests favor table, where she was sending each person home with a small jar of honey.
Beautiful Tents & Tables
For the sailcloth tent, we added greenery to the chandeliers to soften the look and bring a bit of the gorgeous natural beauty inside the tent, too. Her guest tables were rectangular with white linens, placed end to end to create long seating arrangements. We alternated between our white compotes with large hydrangea based arrangements, and a mix of our scattered vases to complement the other tables full of zinnia, cosmos, celosia, mountain mint, eucalyptus, and statice. Both tables had our rose gold mercury glass votive holders!
The wooden harvest tables they chose for the head table fit the entire wedding party, and had a special mix of her own collection of bud vases. We love seeing what you’ve found for your special day, and as long as you drop them off to us ahead of time we are happy to fill any vase with our farm grown flowers!
The combination of her chandelier greenery, soft white linens, walnut crossback chairs, wooden tables, and brown and white checkered dance floor tied everything together with the sailcloth tent and the muted neutral summer florals.
A summer wedding can definitely be unpredictable with heat, but using neutral tones can keep it visually cool, if not actually cool! Marcella and Justin had an absolutely amazing day here on the eastern shore, and we were so happy to have been a part of it.
