Being Your Kent Island Resort Florist

An Eastern Shore wedding can bring to mind many different styles, locations, and backdrops. Conveniently, all of them can be found ready to host you and your guests at the beautiful Kent Island Resort!

Hannah and her bridesmaids show off their green and white bouquets during August at the Farmstead; Nicole and her bridesmaids shine in vibrant colors during May at the Pavilion.

Even with easy highway access, the Resort property sits far enough back from any main road that your event will have peace and privacy while still capturing the remote feel of a coastal waterfront wedding.  With their own catering and coordination staff as well as full access to standard rental items (think tables, chairs, linens), this venue really has a lot to offer.

Nicole + Bobby show off the scale of the Kent Island Resort; Kiara and Steven pose in front of the Farmstead; Kayla’s bridesmaids walk through the garden path.

The multiple locations for your ceremony and reception allows you to choose a space that matches your vision as well as guest count, and allows us as your Kent Island Resort florist to help you dream up the perfect floral additions for your wedding day!

Getting Ready + A Place to Stay

We love a venue that offers both you and your guests a place to get ready and to stay the night!  It makes delivering your bouquets and boutonnieres a breeze, too.  The Kent Island Resort has various styles of rooms and suites, a restaurant, swimming pool, fire pits, kayaking… all on 220 acres!!

Nicole and Kayla get ready inside the Resort for their spring and summer weddings; Cecile greets her bridesmaids on the front steps.

Waterfront Gazebo

The waterfront at Kent Island Resort is a gorgeous backdrop for any ceremony! Whether you choose the gazebo as a central focus, or the dock and grasses as Maddie + Joseph did, you really can’t go wrong. This ceremony space typically leads to a reception in the Garden House or Pavilion.

Woodland Ceremony

Stepping away from the water and into the woods, you’ll enter the resort’s ceremony location in the woods, just a few steps behind the property!  The clearing is maintained with plenty of space for chairs, your aisle, and a low platform for your ceremony as well.

Kayla + Austin said their I Do’s on a sunny summer day, with plenty of jewel tone florals to accent the setting! Our farm grown statice, eryngium, godetia, dahlias, eucalyptus, scabiosa, and snapdragons were the perfect match.

This ceremony location typically coordinates with the Garden House or Pavilion, you can see some of their table setups further down this post in the Pavilion.

Gorgeous Green Lawns

There are plenty of naturally beautiful areas between the water and woods, too!  With all the trees and well-kept lawns, these spaces also lend themselves to a reception in either the Garden House or Pavilion.

Cecile + Ozzy went with a greenery-heavy corner piece on a wooden arch, placed underneath a tree. Nicole + Bobby went for bright and colorful corner florals on our wooden chuppah rental.

White Pergola

Bride and Groom say their vows under a white pergola decorated by a Kent Island Resort florist.

Lily + Zach exchange their vows underneath the pergola, adorned in a floral heavy garland and wrapped columns.

You can’t miss the beauty of the Pergola space, situated on a large brick patio in front of a gorgeous natural field.  One of our favorite things ever as a Kent Island Resort florist is talking through all of your ideas and dreams for this space, and coming up with a plan that works for you!  It’s beautiful all on it’s own, and there are many levels of coverage that can elevate this space.

Lindsay + Nick’s dark jewel tone floral accents; Hannah + Brendan in green and white; Lily + Zach’s aisle entrance is marked with an arrangement; Katherine + Brian have a burgundy floral garland; Annie + Al have a bright and colorful spring floral garland and wrapped columns, Kiara + Steve focus on the base of the columns with ground arrangements.

Whether you want a touch of florals at the base, or wrapping the columns in greens, to create an asymmetrically balanced arrangement, or completely flower the entire thing – we are here for it! And don’t forget about the aisle – the leadup to such a grand backdrop for your ceremony can add it’s own panache too.

Annie + Al had floral bundles on the chairs and a welcome sign; Hannah + Brendan had small arrangements down the aisle that were repurposed into their reception.

The Pergola is situated right outside of the beautiful Farmstead building, making it the perfect companion location for a reception there.

The Garden House

A rounded building with plenty of large windows, the Garden House is a perfect reception space for a smaller guest list. Cecile + Ozzy brought lots of color into the bright interior space with spring ranunculus, dianthus, centaurea, and more in arrangements and scattered bud vases!

This sweet little structure has waterfront views and is directly behind the Resort itself, making it convenient for your guests and vendors to arrive and set up.

The Pavilion

Looking for a tented reception with all the conveniences of an indoor venue?  The Pavilion provides just that!  Located just outside of the Resort itself, this semi-permanent frame tent features clear sides and ends, wooden beams and poles, as well as chandeliers, all placed on a brick patio floor.  It’s large enough to host a bigger guest list, while also remaining cozy enough for a more spaced out smaller reception.

Some of our favorite installations as a Kent Island Resort florist have been creating a ceiling of suspended florals above the dance floor.  The chandeliers are also perfect for customizing with greenery!

Maddie went with a combination of scattered vases for some tables, and larger single vase arrangements for others, to keep the overall look bright, crisp, and minimalist. Her florals included zinnias, eucalyptus, celosia, gomphrena, strawflower, and more – all grown at Wildly Native Flower Farm! We’ve created lots of different varieties of centerpieces for the round guest tables that are typically used in the Pavilion space!

Kayla + Austin chose round floral centerpieces in low dishes to bring more color and texture into the space, while Nicole + Bobby used floating candle trios with bright spring floral bud vases as their centerpieces.

The Farmstead

Bride and Groom walk down aisle of their wedding party, smiling and holding bridal bouquet.

Lindsay + Nick greet their wedding party outside of the Farmstead.

This one really has it all – the private ceremony space, a designated outdoor cocktail area, a large and customizable reception space with vaulted ceiling and beams, bar area… not to mention the infrastructure logistics of having its own kitchen and large bathrooms!  There is even an area upstairs for the bridal party to relax and get ready together.

Aven poses with her bouquet; Kiara and her bridesmaids sit on the balcony; Lindsay adjusts her veil and flower crown.

The long side patio is covered, providing shelter for your guests from rain and hot sun alike.  It opens up into the bar area and reception space through large glass doors, allowing all parts of your evening to seamlessly blend together.

Annie + Al had lots of seating options for cocktail hour; Katherine and her bridesmaids walk down the path from the Farmstead.

The Farmstead typically starts off with rectangle tables, with the option to switch or mix and match with round tables as well.  In our opinion as a wedding florist – we love the mix and match look!  It creates more visual interest in your reception space, allows for more options with layout, and also gives you more options for how to space out a guest list.

A rainy day doesn’t scare us at all here, since there is so much room for shifting plans!  We’ve had to make a few last minute changes over the years, but it always turns out perfectly, and nobody has to get soaked. Aven + Nick had to move their ceremony indoors (see below), but there was plenty of room and light as well!

If you attend one of the Kent Island Resort’s Tasting Events for their booked couples to choose menu items, chances are you’ll spot our florals on the tables!  We love working together with their team to design creative and unique centerpieces for their themed tablescapes.

Around the Venue

Of course, you and your photographer are always welcome to venture around the beautiful property to take advantage of more photo opportunities!  Being a florist for Kent Island Resort, we are always excited to open a gallery after your wedding to see how our florals translate on camera and also to see where they went with you!

Bride and Groom lead their wedding party through a field.

The docks are always popular, whether your ceremony was on the waterfront or not.

Other scenic backdrops include the grassy fields, with their wide open spaces and skies, or the greenery of the woods.

Maddie holds her bridal bouquet; Emma + Erin pose with family; Katherine + Brian walk with their wedding party; Lily poses with her bouquet.

Let’s Talk Flowers!

All in all, we love being a Kent Island Resort florist and have years of experience working with the venue and their team.  We are a quick one hour drive up the Eastern Shore in Chestertown, and love being able to keep flowering on this side of the Bay Bridge – less traffic for us and less stress for you!

If you’re interested in finding out more about our pricing and our process, head on over to our Weddings page and fill out an inquiry. We can’t wait to talk to you!
